How this works

  1. 1

    Pick your grind

Whole bean, ground for the machine you own, or sachets that need no equipment at all.

  2. 2

    We grind it

After you order, never before. Whole bean goes out whole, so you can grind it yourself.

  3. 3

    It lands

Through the letterbox within a few days, sealed the day it was packed.

Why Nepal, of all places

Nepal grows a tiny amount of coffee — a rounding error next to Brazil or Ethiopia. What it has is altitude, cool nights and steep ground that nobody can farm at scale.

Coffee ripens slowly up there, which concentrates sugars and gives you the orange peel and brown sugar in the cup. Everything is picked by hand because a machine could not stand up on that slope, let alone drive along it.

The trade-off is that harvests are small and inconsistent. When the season’s lot is gone it is gone. We think that is a fair price for coffee that tastes like where it came from.

We gave away the seedlings

The farm sits on a south-facing slope in Kavre. Alongside our own plants, the team runs a nursery that hands free arabica seedlings and growing advice to neighbouring households.

It is a slow way to build a coffee region. It is also the only one that works.

How the coffee gets made

20 grams. 320 grams. Two and a half minutes.

Our pour-over recipe, worked out on this exact lot — plus cafetiere, AeroPress, a grind chart, and what to change when it tastes wrong.

Before you order

How much is delivery?

£3.95 for UK standard delivery, and free on orders over £20, which is three bags. We only ship within the United Kingdom at the moment.

How long will it take to arrive?

We grind after you order rather than before, so allow two to three working days before it goes out and another two to three in the post. It is slower than a warehouse. It is also the reason the coffee tastes of anything.

Can I collect, or get it faster?

Not yet. If you need coffee urgently for an event, email us and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it.
